FALL PLANT SALE
Public Sale Saturday, October 20, 12 noon to 5 pm and Sunday, October 21, 9 am to 3 pm
KEY TO THE CODES AT END OF THE PLANT DESCRIPTIONS:
H* - attracts Hummingbirds
B* - attracts Butterflies or feeds butterfly larvae
W* - Water efficient/drought tolerant plants
C* - California native plant or derivative
F* - especially good cut Flower or cut Foliage
S* - fragrant flowers ("S" for Scented)

Akebia quinata 'Rosea', "FIVELEAF AKEBIA" - Choice, fast-growing vine for sun or shade w/ handsome, five-parted,
deep green leaves w/ oval leaflets, 3-parted, scented, pink flowers in spring & edible, purplish fruit to 4 in. long. [15]

Antigonon leptopus 'Baja Red', "CORAL VINE" - Spectacular, fast-growing, heat-loving vine w/ dark green, heart-shaped leaves & abundant sprays of hot rose pink flowers over long summer/fall season. [5] (H*W*F*)
Aristolochia littoralis (A. elegans), "CALICO FLOWER" - Pretty, twining vine w/ wiry stems, 3-in., heart-shaped leaves
& unusual, heart-shaped flowers that are deep red-purple marbled w/ creamy white opening from pelican-shaped buds.

Aristolochia trilobata (A. macroura), "DUTCHMAN'S PIPE" - Twining vine w/ handsome, shiny, lobed leaves & most
unusual, pipe-like, chocolate-brown flowers w/ a long, rat-like tail -- one-of-a-kind. [8] (B*)
Bauhinia corymbosa, "PHANERA" - Pretty, evergreen vine climbing by tendrils w/ dainty, bilobed leaves & clusters
of lavender-pink, orchid-like flowers over long spring/summer season. [19] (H*)
Calystegia macrostegia, "ISLAND MORNING-GLORY" - Fast-growing, twining vine native to Channel Islands; arrow-shaped, shiny leaves & 3-in. white flowers w/ pink centers. [15/4] (C*W*)
Clematis armandii, "EVERGREEN CLEMATIS" - Choice, evergreen vine w/ dark, glossy green, divided leaves &
branching clusters of glistening, 3.5-in., fragrant flowers in spring; roots like shade. [20] (H*S*)
Clematis lasiantha, "PIPESTEMS" - Choice, Calif. native vine with dainty foliage & billowy masses of fragrant, creamy-white flowers in early spring; shade root zone, top w/ some sun. [8] (C*S*)
Hylocereus undatus, "QUEEN-OF-THE-NIGHT" - Climbing cactus w/ 3-angled, self-adhering stems & mammoth (to
1.5 ft. long!) white flowers, that open in summer about 8 p.m. & can form delicious magenta-red fruit. [20]
Kennedia coccinea, "CORAL VINE" - Choice & vigorous, Australian vine w/ wiry stems, 3-parted leaves & sweetpea-shaped flowers in an unusual combination of red, pink & yellow; for trellis or groundcover. [30] (W*)
Mandevilla laxa, "CHILEAN JASMINE" - Heat-loving, deciduous, twining vine w/ dark green, pointed leaves & clusters
of 2-in. trumpet shaped, glistening white flowers w/ powerful gardenia fragrance. [20] (S*)
Montanoa schottii, "DAISY VINE" - Fast-growing, clambering shrub/vine w/ angular leaves & spectacular clusters of
white-petaled, yellow-centered, daisy flowers in winter; flowers lightly fragrant. [13] (S*)
Muehlenbeckia complexa, "WIRE VINE" - Vigorous, twining vine or groundcover w/ dainty appearance; thin, wiry,
near-black stems & tiny, rounded, light green leaves; flowers inconspicuous. [32]
Passiflora citrina, "YELLOW-FLOWERED PASSIONVINE" - Tame-growing passion vine w/ slender stems lined w/
dark green, two-lobed leaves & distinctive, 2-in., bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers in summer/fall; not proven Inland.

w/ white & creamy white, fragrant, starry flowers in spring/summer. [5] (S*)
Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea', "PURPLE-LEAF GRAPE" - woody vine, climbing by tendrils; picturesque in & out of leaf w/
shredding bark & slightly lobed downy green leaves that age to purple & burgundy, & turn darker in fall. [20] (W*)
